Open wings. The Black Swallowtail is indigenous to a major part of North America, popular for their magnificent and graceful appearance. They are frequent visitors to all nectar producing flowers and lay eggs on their host plants: fennel (their favorite in our yard), dill, parsley, Queen Anne’s Lace. The butterflies only live about a week upon emergence. Bummer.
