The orange and black Painted Lady is one of the most common butterfly species in the world and migrates to warmer climates in the winter.  During migration, they can fly up to 100 miles a day and reach speeds of 30 mph!  Host plants include thistle, mallows, hollyhock, legumes and others.  They are also called Thistle or    Cosmopolitan Butterflies.
